About this project

The owner of this property approached JEB Build for a design and build solution for the renovation of this beachside Queensland home.
The brief for the home was to provide an easy to live in modern coastal home. For final design and working drawings the builder & owner engaged architect Hayley Prior. The result is a relaxed and welcoming light filled costal home that reflects the lifestyle of its location.

Highlight north facing windows bring an abundance of natural light into the open plan living, dining & kitchen space. This provides a grounded and laid back feel with the feature recycled brick wall that runs from the entrance through to the splash-back of kitchen.
The client wanted a white-wash finish to the brick, however was not keen on the lead paint found on the recycled bricks. To achieve the final result 5 different bricks and the traditional lime method of rendering was used to create the finished look. Black fittings and appliances contrast against white tiles and painted walls to off set the natural timber flooring and kitchen cupboards tying elements together to form a modern coastal home.
